On Sunday Feb. 2nd 2014 I launched into a new topical series called “Love Me Do.” Clearly my dad’s Bealtes influences is showing through. The idea for the study came from two sources.

In John 14:15 Jesus says, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” This verse has been popping up around me a lot lately. I also recently found an old audio archive DVD of studies from a pastor friend of mine and I listened to a series he did called “Habits of Holiness.” It is, to this day, one of the most practical teaching series I’ve ever heard. Sadly it isn’t online anywhere anymore.

John 14:15 plus Habits of Holiness equals Love Me Do.

This single statement might sound like some kind of manipulation or guilt trip. It is far from that. It is another way for a Rabbi to tell His disciples that “if you are My disciples your life will look like Mine.” I want to spend a few weeks exploring the context of this verse and then spend some time looking at other passages in the New Testament where Jesus’ disciples taught a bit more specifically about what this looks like. I’m looking forward to it.

You can find the audio and video for the series on thebluethread.org.
