Scripture No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham, for I have made you the father of a multitude of nations. Genesis 17:5
As God is about to fulfill His promise to Abram concerning a son, God gives Abram a new name; Abraham. In essence God gives him a new identity. God even expands a little on what his new name is all about, a father of many nation. God does the same thing with Sarai to Sarah. God essentially adds an “H” to their name which in Hebrew has to do with wind, breath or spirit. As part of their new identity God given them the Spirit.
As believers we have died and been born again. We are new creations, We are no longer what we were, we are something new. We also have a new identity along with God’s Spirit in us and upon us. Paul tells us to put off the old man and put on the new, like Clark Kent changing into Superman. I have a new identity and I have God’s Spirit and power in me. I just need to walk in it more effectively.
Lord, continue to show me how to walk in the newness of who I am because of You.
