About Corby

Corby is the pastor of The Exchange Church in Forest Grove, OR. He and his wife Jessica have been married since 1994, and they have two sons, one of which has Asperger’s Syndrome.

Born and raised in Vancouver, WA, Corby’s walk with Jesus began at the middle school ministry at Crossroads Community Church. After high school he attended University of Washington as a Music Ed. major, until God got His hands on him and decided that he should teach the Bible instead of music. While at UW he fell in love with improvisational theater. In order to save some money and pursue God’s call, he moved back to Vancouver, taught improv workshops at area high schools, attended Clark College, and fell in love with his future wife, Jessica, who he originally met at the middle school ministry at Crossroads. (Nice circle, huh?)

Corby and Jessica both felt called to serve God in whatever capacity and decided to go to Calvary Chapel Bible College which, at that time, was located in Twin Peaks, CA. After graduating in 1995 they moved back to Vancouver where Corby worked as an intern at Crossroads in the youth ministry. At the end of the internship Corby stayed on staff as the Network Administrator.

After some adventures at a baptist church, another Calvary Chapel, and two technical support positions, Corby found himself as a yoyo man with what is now known as All For Kidz and The Ned Show. Almost 1,600 shows, 250,000 kids, 31 states, Canada, England (four times), Australia (two times), and living in Pittsburgh, PA for almost four years, these were the fruits of The Ned Show. But the call to ministry surfaced again. The Internet to the rescue! An interesting search process led Corby to New Life Fellowship in Aberdeen, SD where he served as their first pastor. While it was part of God’s plan it was not the final destination. In August of 2006 Corby and family moved to Toutle, WA (huh?) where Corby served as the youth pastor at his dad’s church, Toutle Christian Fellowship. Going into this it was understood that it would be a temporary situation. Six months or six years, no one knew. Well, the Lord new.

Six months later (January 2007) Corby received a call from Crossroads asking if he would step in to replace the pastor at Calvary Chapel Forest Grove. After some “kicking against the goads” Corby and his wife agreed to move their family yet again to answer the call. They drove down every Sunday beginning in February until they were able to find a place in May. The church went through some healing and refining for about a year. The result was a new identity as The Exchange Church. Its desire is for people to exchange their old, beat-up lives for a brand new one from God. That’s what Jesus is all about.
