Where Introvert Meets Internet

Pharaoh's men could Copy, but not Undo

I was reading Exodus 7-8 this morning. It’s where God sends Moses and Aaron to Pharaoh to work those groovy miracles while Pharaoh got more stubborn with each one.

For the first three or four miracles, Pharaoh’s magicians were able to duplicate them. Staffs into snakes, water into blood, frogs all over the place. As I was reading a thought occurred to me (it happens from time to time). Why would you want to copy turning water into blood? Why would you want to copy a plague of frogs? I get the idea that they wanted to prove that they could do it too. But if you really wanted to demonstrate your power, wouldn’t you want to UNDO those things instead of COPY them?

“You can turn water into blood? We’ll make more blood! You can make frogs? We’ll make more frogs!” How dumb is that?

The reality is that while Satan is a master counterfeiter, he can’t undo what God does. He can’t reverse what the power of God has already accomplished. Or, as Paul puts it, “Nothing shall separate us from the love of God.” Thank God for that.

2009 State of the Church Newsletter

I actually snail-mailed this out to the church in a pretty newsletter thingy. But I didn’t have everyone’s mailing address for some reason, so here it is online. I thought others might benefit from it as well. If nothing else it’s food for thought.

Also, here is the PDF of the original newsletter. It’s 16.6MB, you’ve been warned (mostly graphics and pics). Read the rest of this entry »
