If you look at 1 John 2 and 1 John 4 I think you see that John’s point in talking about false teachers is to teach people how to know what is wrong, not who is wrong. I would love to just post a list of “Top 25 Teachers to Avoid”, but how does that help when new teachers arrive? “Test the spirits” is something all believers are called to do when selecting what will influence them. Good point, and a good warning to all of us to keep taking it back to Jesus to stay focused on what is important.

Great post! We, Christians, need to be more like the Bereans. We need to daily read and study God’s Word. If we are so familiar with God’s truth, we will be able to detect lies/false teaching immediately.
